UK : PhD Studentships Area of EAP relevant to CELE

As part of a major expansion of its research strategy, the Centre for English Language Education invites applications for one three-year PhD studentship based in the Centre at the University of Nottingham (UK). This studentship is related to any aspect of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) in which the Centre is involved. Students should submit a research proposal of substantive scholarly merit in any of these areas. Students must be able to provide evidence of knowledge and skills in an area of EAP relevant to the Centre. Students should have a good undergraduate honours degree, an MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, Applied Linguistics or related area, and should be able to provide evidence of proven previous research skills. Please note that students whose first language is not English should be able to demonstrate English language proficiency of IELTS 7.0 (or equivalent).

This studentship is available from January 2010 and cover home/EU tuition fees. Funding is subject to satisfactory progress. Overseas students are eligible to apply, but will be liable to pay the difference between home/EU and overseas tuition fees (due to funding restrictions). Students must be able to fund their own living expenses.
