The Health Service and Population Research Department is advertising a PhD studentship supported by the Medical Research Council and NIHR Biomedical Research Centre to start in January 2010. The Department has a reputation of conducting high quality health service and epidemiological research in mental health relevant to policy and practice, nationally and internationally. Staff in the Department work to understand the mental health needs of different communities and, with that knowledge, to develop and evaluate interventions designed to help both service users and carers. The PhD studentship will be based in the Section of Community Mental Health and will be available for three years. Applicants must be eligible for UK/EU fee status (EU students MUST have been in the UK for at least three years prior to commencement of studentship, or being ‘migrant workers’ at the time of application). The studentship will cover full fees for UK/EU students (overseas students will need to pay the overseas fees balance), and a maintenance stipend (approximately £15,100 per year).
