School of Medicine and Dentistry
The University of Aberdeen is committed to the Scottish Clinical Research Excellence Development Scheme and the long-term aim of nurturing and developing future clinical academic leaders. Accordingly, the School of Medicine and Dentistry is pleased to offer three Clinical Lecturer posts (equivalent to Academic Clinical Fellowship in England), complete with three-years funding, during which you will undertake full-time study for a PhD soon after commencement of the post under Gold Guide arrangements. It is expected that trainees would join the appropriate North of Scotland Training programme and complete CCT in Aberdeen.
These exciting posts are open to all medical specialties and are available from August/September 2008.
This opportunity will include:
• Registration for a PhD with the University of Aberdeen, with approved time out of clinical training in order to achieve this
• Access to highly experienced supervisors with international standing
• A dedicated clinical and academic mentoring scheme overseeing the development of the successful candidate to CCT and beyond.
• It is also anticipated that successful candidates may be able to spend some time abroad at international centres of excellence during their research time.
Eligible applicants will already be holders of a National Training Number in the UK. These posts have the full approval of the postgraduate deanery although candidates are strongly advised to discuss their application with their Training Programme Director/Postgraduate Dean.
The salary will be paid in the range of £30,231 - £52,346 per annum on the Clinical Staff Salary Scale for Staff not holding Clinical Consultant contracts.
